It is that time of year again, Sean Bean sure knows that Winter term 2015 is coming. And that means you need new classes. Scheduling for classes can be a very exciting and potentially stressful time. There can be a mad rush to make sure you have that lab requirement secure, or the one last class you need for your major. But relax! We’ve got you covered in our handy how to guide to registering for classes.
The first step is to talk to your adviser, the sooner the better. You should meet with your academic advisers regularly throughout your study here at EMU to ensure the completion of your degree program requirements. Plus they can be great help in finding jobs and giving you the advise you need when the time comes. There are many advisors at EMU to help you register for classes. Academic advisers are aligned by college.
Don’t know who your advisor is? All you have to do is check out your myemich. Under the student services tab, you will see an option “UG Student Advising Overview.” This has everything you could want to know.
Eastern Michigan University operates under the dual advising model. Academic Advisors in the University Advising and Career Development Center (UACDC) are aligned by college and can assist all students with General Education requirements during their first two years of college, provide referrals to campus resources (based on individual needs) and provide assistance with course selection for undeclared majors. As part of the dual advising model, students who have declared a major are encouraged to also seek advising from their college/department for major and minor-specific requirements and guidance. If you are decided on a major, declare your major online. You are then encouraged to meet with a faculty advisor in your academic major department (see the Course Schedule Book table of contents for addresses & phone numbers) or your college advising center. Please note that students who have declared a major are still welcome to see an advisor in the University Advising & Career Development Center for general education advising. Now that you have your advisor figured out, it is almost time to register for classes. EMU has prepared a very handy online guide to registering through your myemich account.
