Check it Out: HealthSpeak

Want to help some of your fellow students on campus and get some great real world experience in public health and awareness? The Wellness Center is launching a peer education program and actively seeking motivated graduate and undergraduate students to join! Peer educators present to student groups about relevant health topics such as alcohol and other drug use, sexual health, and stress management.¬† This is a great opportunity for students with an interest in promoting healthy choices within the EMU student body, strengthening group presentation skills, and building connections on campus. The program is even approved for LBC credit. SO you can also pick up some sweet Eagle Reward points while doing it! It’s a win-win-win.

Do you have what it takes to become a peer educator? What are the requirements for becoming a peer educator? The Wellness Center is looking for students who:

  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA
  • Work collaboratively with others
  • Commit to participation in HealthSpeak for at least one year
  • Attend training sessions on Monday afternoons from 2:30 – 4:30 on the following dates: January 25th, Feb 1st, 8th, 15th, and 29th, March 7th, and April 4th
  • Are eager to help their fellow students
