Swoops Food Pantry @ EMU

Swoops food pantry is a hidden gem on campus. Run by a leadership board of students, faculty, staff, and alumni volunteers – this campus organization is a great resource for current EMU students that provides them with food assistance and additional resoureces to have a long-lasting and positive impact on their well-being while in college.

The core goals of the organization which can be found on their website are to:

  • Create a sustainable resource for students to temporarily help meet food needs of students on campus
  • To meet emergency, non-food needs of students
  • Distribute food discreetly in easily accessible and safe environments on-campus
  • To provide students with additional resources to assist them in accessing services in the area
  • To involve additional resources and community partners to assure the sustainability of the pantry

Eligibility to receive items from the food pantry require current enrollment to EMU by presenting a current class schedule. Upon approval, students are able to receive food from the pantry twice a month.  If an emergency occurs, students can access the pantry a third time during the month*** After completing an intake form before or during a student’s visit they are then able to receive the food they need.
